Meet Doug Varn
I spent 25 years in the technology industry, much of it managing complex, large-scale programs at companies like Google, Fitbit, and Docusign. In 2025, as a result of my own financial planning, I was able to confidently walk away from it all and pursue a more meaningful and enjoyable life.
I’ve always been a planner. From complex tech programs to family vacations, planning has always been my strong suit. And long before becoming a financial advisor, I meticulously managed my own finances, built spreadsheets to plan my financial future, and spent years learning about investing and financial planning.
Like many people, I used spreadsheets and eventually AI to estimate my financial future. But it wasn’t until I built a comprehensive financial model that I had the confidence to act. With the details of my finances laid out over time, I could see that the future I wanted was closer than former estimates suggested.
That experience inspired me to create Varn Financial Planning. I saw firsthand how powerful it can be to truly understand your financial future, and I wanted to help others gain that same clarity. Not simply to know when they might retire, but to understand what’s possible and make informed choices about how they want to live.
My goal with Varn Financial Planning is simple: help you understand where you’re headed, optimize your financial future, and use that clarity to pursue the life you find most satisfying.
